One to one verbal tutoring is a wonderful experience for any student. It provides the opportunity to delve deeply into specific testing, reading comprehension issues, grammar and language.

A BIT ABOUT ME

For almost two decades I have worked exclusively as a verbal tutor. My primary focus has been the ACT and the SAT, with hundreds of success stories and happy students. I have proudly seen students accepted to schools across the spectrum, from SUNY to Harvard, University of Michigan to University of Virginia, Williams to Johns Hopkins, Vanderbilt to Tulane and everything in between. Additionally, I provide aid for reading comprehension, organization, essay writing, vocabulary acquisition, AP Language, Honors and Regents English for all high school age students.

These tests are a major component of the application process. While daunting to many students, they can be learned. All students benefit from one-to-one tutoring preparation. Reading comprehension, speed and pacing, fluency, reality based answers, vocabulary, grammar and essay writing are all improved by complete and repetitive focus on specific student needs.
College Application Essays
Essential Requirement
Competition for college admittance has become very selective with schools relying more and more heavily on the essay. Many schools require more than one. Thus, they must be creative, unique and well written. While some students need only basic editing help, most need assistance brainstorming, formulating, and then translating their expressions of life experiences, academic honors, athletic dramas and endeavors, losses and family vignettes into a spectacular essay in their own voice.

Many students enter high school with less than optimal reading comprehension, grammar, essay organization and writing skills. These are essentially executive function skills, and can be learned.Â
Regents, Honors and AP Language  all present their own challenges. I am skilled in helping students better comprehend literature and source work, create written responses and become more confident.
